Mayr - Marochino 1897 - 1976
Education:
Special etching course of Prof. M. Cl. Crncic (Zagreb) College
of Arts and Crafts in Zagreb (from 1915)
Biography: Lovers of Fine Arts in Zagreb between the two
wars knew her better as a restorer than as a painting personality.
Since she was completely familiar with painting technologies,
she had a rich clientele for whom she very successfully
painted copies of old masters (she liked best Titian, Murillo,
Rubens and Boucher). The church of the Holy Family in Zagreb
houses her copy of Bartolomeo della Porta. She also produced
ornaments and posters. She was also popular as a portrait
painter, although art critics between 1920 and 1939 ranked
her water colour landscapes as her best works, and they
are displayed in the Moderna galerija (Modern Gallery) in
Zagreb. She was one of the most active exhibitors and a
board member of the Women Artists' Club (1928-1940).
