Biography: After her marriage to the sea captain Pero Jakšic
from Lapad, a part of Dubrovnik, she soon became a wealthy
childless widow. She lived as a modest vegetarian, with
painting as her only passion, and became well known as a
benefactrice, not only to individuals in need. In her will
she left her Villa Flora in the bay of Lapad to artists
for their exhibitions and recess, and her bigger house with
a garden, to the parish of St Michael. Her life ended tragically.
In May 1943, on her way to Lapad, she was run over by an
Italian army motor cycle. (She was the aunt of the painter
Frano Šimunovic.
