Our
efforts to make tourism more sustainable
We tried to build Villa Pape according to local architecture and
in harmony with the environment. The house was built using local
product as much as possible. Several local craftsmen were involved
in building.
Construction and building was organized and built by owner Boris
and his father Blaz. Famous stone from island Brac was used to tile
the front part of the house. This work has been done by craftsmen
form Pucista (island Brac). One of them Denis is a teacher in famous
crafts school in Pucusca www.klesarskaskola.hr.
Most of the furniture (some 80%) was built by our carpenter Nikola.
Our efforts to protect the environment and support local employmentWe
implement a variety of "green" measures to protect the
environment and help create sustainable tourism. Some of these “green”
measures include:- the use of environmentally friendly cleaning
products, and the use of energy saving light bulbs where possible.
- use recycled products wherever possible and in turn recycle what
we can. - we encourage guests to recycle by providing recycling
bin for cans, bottles and newspapers.- We try not to waste water
and change towels every 2 days, and linen once a week- we turn off
lights and air conditioning when our guests are out- vegetables
either grown in our garden grounds or bought from local farmers-
most food used is local - We try to present our traditional delicacies
as much as possible - all information regarding Croatian culture
and language you can get from us- we support local crafts and business
by informing all our guests about them
