Salona-Solin

Today Solin in Roman period known as Salona is a small town near Split. Famous not only for its Roman period Solin played an important role in Medieval Croatian state, being one of the capital cities.
Ancient Salona started as an Illyrian town, occupied by the Greeks and with its peak in Roman period.
A capital of the Roman province of Dalmatia and the birthplace of Emperor Diocletian Salona played an important role in the province of Dalmatia until it was destroyed in 7th century.
