Sibenik
Unfairly less-known for its beauty among tourists Sibenik is a town with its specific beauty and charm. Its Cathedral of St. James a masterpiece of both Juraj Dalmatinac and Nikola Firentinac truly deserves its listing on the UNESCO World Heritage List. With its youthful and lively atmosphere Sibenik will attract both culture and pleasure seekers.
Also called "Krešimirov grad" (Krešimir's city), Sibenik was for a period of time, a seat of the Croatian King Kresimir. Its medieval historical core built both in Gothic and in Renaissance style is one of the nicest in Croatia. One of heavily bombed towns during the recent Croatian War of Independence, deserves its chance in tourism as a help in its post-war recovery. In June/July whole town lives for children when the International Child's Festival takes place. Sibenik is also known as a birth place of many Croatian musicians and composers such a world known pianist Maxim Mrvica, therefore deserves to be a musical center of Croatia.
